Radiomic Texture Analysis

A Bit of Background

Texture analysis of medical images was traditionally performed by radiologists. For example looking on a lung CT of a patient with IPF they might describe a certain lung area's texture as "honeycombing".  The textures in medical images give clues about diagnosis. Computer programs can make this analysis faster and more robust. There are several commercial products on the market, as well as open source quasi-academic projects. Until now none have simplified the process to the level that even a surgeon without the funds to buy commercial products can produce meaningful work and research without assistance from a computer specialist. The goal of this website and the projects it publicizes is to create tools so any medical professional can do texture analysis easily and for free.

“There is scarcely any repetitive function in which the computer cannot be of help to us, in radiology.”
